How would you like to invest some money to develop mines? Don’t worry, these scams are targeted at high rollers. However, there are other cheap investment scams targeted at the working class.
“Alberto DoCouto, who moved to the U.S. in 2002 after being
acquitted of fraud in Canada in 1998, is accused of convincing
Japanese, Canadian and U.S. investors to give him money to
develop mines in Peru, Nevada and Guyana. U.S. prosecutors say
DoCouto used the money to buy luxury cars and a $1.6 million home
and to pay his credit card bills.”
