Just becareful who you are dealing with. Many of the pictures posted in dating sites are not real. Never send money or arrange to meet them in person at a secluded place (or at his place) in the first few meeting. Bring your good old friend along, even if you think that he/she would be a lightbulb. It is better to be really safe then sorry.
Don't let our warnings stop you from using online dating site. You just need to be careful and try to find out more about the other party before "committing" too much. Don't dream.

I signed up to a legitimate site , Dominican Cupid.com which claims to introduce Dominican Women to men seeking Dominican Wives , girlfriends. The site is legitimate , but one serious issue is that 90% of the women there beg for money at the first conversation. The posted rules state that you are not supposed to send or ask for money from someone you meet on the site , but the owners of the site ignore this and in fact when presented with evidence that the girls are begging for money , the response is " it sometimes happens ". There should be more stringent controls on the people who are allowed to join the site , and the rules should not only be posted more clearly , they should be enforced vigorously. But they aren't as the owners are more interested in volume than results and consistency. I would advise anyone to stay away from this site until there is improvement.
Turns out to be the Dr. Anderson wouldn't tell me what hospital he works for!! I started to question his creditibility. Had my friend ck. out his email detail locator and tracked it to see if it was really sent from Baghdad. NO it wasn't. The server he/she was using in Santa Ana, California. It turned out to be a dating scam!! Thank God for technology that can track authenity and to see if someone is true about what they are saying. One can NEVER be too careful when meeting someone online. If they are truthful, there should never be a problem with telling the truth. He wanted me to get my passport current so we could travel. Can you imagine what could have happened if I didn't look into his history?? In some foreign country?? YIKES. Also, Google their name and try whitepages.com to see if they come up that way.
