Job Scam: Fake Ocean Group Company

How does an easy job as a Payment Processing Agent for $3,000 a month sound to you, and all you need is internet access and email. In addition, there are commissions from every payment received, and the salary may be increased up to $4,500 after the trial.

This is a job for money mules, an old scam that we reported long ago, where you will be asked to re-transfer money received from a scam victim. If there is any investigation done, you might be implicated.

The the scammers may extend this to a fake check scam. They will send a check for you to "process", and ask you to wire cash out instead.

The bank will clear the check, and after you send the money, the bank will call you to return the money after they found the check is fake.

I got a similar offer from i-compass group inc. I was skeptical so I ignored it at first, but after failing to find work for a while it started to sound better and better. I ended up giving them my bank info after I took their test and printed out their contract. I went back to their site and tried to login to upload the scan of the signed contract but the site didnt exist anymore. Only after trying to call the number listed did I do any research. cant find the company, the address exists but theres something else there. I have since diverted the money out of the account and into a different one , then changed all of my login information and passwords, created a new checking account and diverted my money into that, (aint the internet great?) I'm no savvier and will probably fall for the next scam I came across, but if I can help other people in similar situations, all the better. the letter they sent me was this:

I have received 2 emails from Rating Group Inc. offering me the position of "Payment Processing Agent" , the job sounds amazing; work at home, 2 hours a day Monday thru Friday and make 2300/month + commissions, I went to their website given in the same email (I did search the company via google but it didn't return anything, what made me skeptical)  the website gives all kind of answers for the frequent questions but those answers didn't really make sense and didn't convince me, then I wanted to make sure that it's a scam by searching for people who received a similar offer, I didn't have to search for too long, a lots of internet users who posted their resumes looking for a real job got trapped by some scammers who take advantage of job-seekers, making profits out of people's naiveness and this wretched economy, leaving them in the middle of a lot trouble after using them as money mules. I hope people will realise that easy money does not exist and hopefully authorities will do a good job making people aware of this matter and the risks, also I hope they will stop those crooks that squat the web.

I did register, add my bank details and have processed a payment for Spin Group Inc. This is similar to a 'fake cheque' scam, only they send the money to your account, it clears and is genuinely in your account, Only they request that the money is 'refunded' like a credit card 'reverse payment'. I've lost £1246 to this company. I'm now in debt with my bank and am being investigated by local police for assisting in money laundering!!

PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO ANY E-MAILS OFFERING YOU JOBS FOR ONLINE WORK. I fell for it and am now paying the price (literally!!).

I hope the judge is nice enough to spare my prison.

I also got several emails from Anita Hartman. Thought I had done enough research. Being desperate I registered. Called them several times and talked to a Ronald Smith at Vital Group Inc. I did give them my account info, only it is a dormant account. I used to sell AVON and used this account to keep the money separate from my household account. There has been $1.69 in there for about 6 months. When Thurs rolled around, I tried to log on to their website and nothing. I really do know better than to do something like this. I have closed the account and notified the authorities. I already have fraud alerts at the 3 credit bureaus. My credit is terrible anyway because of medical bills. Back to the unemployment office I go.

Hi, Has anyone actually processed via Spin, as they say it will go into ones account first rather than sending you a physical cheque?

I havent accepted but there website seems fine ?

After reviewing the internet this is the only page I have found ?

Any advise would be appreciated

I got near enough the same email but from 'Spin Group'. Thought it was a bit dodgy when i looked at the pay and how many hours i had to work. Also the way it was written, it was not professional. They got my details from totaljobs.

I too received the email from Ms. Hartman. I'm glad I checked it out before applying and possibly being ripped off. I was told she found my resume via Yahoo hot jobs. Fyi.

Got the one from Anita Harman today. I updated my resume on Monster and CareerBuilder about a month ago and have since been getting a lot of dubious e-mails about jobs.

Just received from Vital-Group inc.   to check it out...   Went to register and stopped when it asked for my Bank account...   I have looked for them on BBB and cannot find them.. How can this be stopped?

Also, I posted my resume on CareerBuilder.com and have been receiving nothing but scams and/or junk email, even unwanted phone calls from CareerBuilder itself wanting me to pay for an expensive resume overhaul.  They keep calling even on Mother's Day, in the evening, which I think is rude!  I'm removing myself from their site.

Just received the exact same email that Yanni mentions above from Anita Harman (hr.harman.vital@gmail.com ), and I was certain it was a scam.  Anyone know where to report this obviously fraudulent email?  They're obviously after bank account numbers.

Got this email today and knew immediately it was a scam. The over-the-top offer for few hours with disproportionately high payout is the same as posted above. But the company name changed to Vital Group and the sender changed to Anita Harman. The language has changed enough here to possibly evade discovery as a fraud through a search engine. See below:

Dear X,

Our HR Department has found your resume on line and would like to offer you a Payment Processing Agent position.

The job we offer is part-time with a flexible schedule.

Working hours: 2-3 hours a day, Monday through Friday. It's possible to work from home and communicate via internet & cell-phone.

Job requirements:
- 18+ y/o;
- Computer at home;
- 24/7 internet access;
- No criminal background;

No need to pay for enrollment or anything else! All fees and expenses are covered by Vital Group . We offer paid training (30 days) for employees whose application forms are approved. During this time you'll be getting all detailed instructions and training from our online support.

Base salary $2300 is paid at the end of probationary period via wire transfer into your bank account plus 8% commission for each successful process.

If you would like to learn more, please email us with your personal de-tails at hr.harman.vital@gmail.com (we apologize for using Gmail account, it is necessary to avoid getting SPAM letters that can damage our system).

Awaiting your prompt reply,

Anita Harman

Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Offers to work from home where you never have to see a person should always be immediately suspect. Any company that can't offer a valid physical address shouldn't be trusted.

Never give your bank account info to a company until after you've been interviewed and your position is certain. I never enroll for direct deposit until several weeks after I've been working and receiving paychecks.

Be careful, and good luck everyone.

I got that same email, only now the company is operating under the name Vital Group Inc. Like Melissa, I almost fell for it and started the registration process. I stopped when it was time to enter all of my bank account info. Steer clear of this one :-)

I got a very similar e-mail from a Vital Inc. for, again, Payment Processing Agent. The subject line was the same "Vacancy for your Review" and it had the same "This is not a sales position" note. Same name.name.name@gmail.com type contact address. FYI, these people are still out there.

Thanks guys. I agree with Melissa above.

I got the exact same e-mail and I decided to research to make sure.

Beware if you post your resume online people, scam folks like this will try to get your info!!!

Brent.
