Watch out for this scam:

Scam artists have been prowling cell phones to dupe Citizens Bank
customers into disclosing personal and financial information, the bank
confirmed Friday.

A number of area residents received text messages on their cell
phones late Thursday alerting them that someone had gained unauthorized
access to their Citizens Bank accounts. The scammer message urges the
recipient to call an “888” phone number to correct the problem.

The real problem is that the “888” number doesn’t ring to Citizens;
it connects to a con artist who’ll try to extract sensitive information
from the caller
.

This could happen anywhere and to any bank customer.
