Watch out for this new scam. Scammers are hacking Facebook (social networking website) and sending distress signals to the hacked victim’s friends and asking them for money.

“WA journalist Caroline Winter said she only found out a hacker had
accessed her account when she returned home from her honeymoon to find
dozens of messages from concerned friends.

Her Facebook status had been changed to say she needed help urgently and her password and email were altered, locking her out.

“A
friend that I spoke to actually had a chat to the hacker, thinking it
was me — and I was telling them that I was in London, that I’d been
robbed of all my money and credit cards and could they please send me
money for a plane fare,” she said. She had received no help from
Facebook despite sending four emails.”
