, LEAGUE CITY — A League City couple and men
from Dallas and Boston say they are among more than two dozen people
they know of who fell victim to an alleged scam involving a business
opportunity advertised on Web sites.

Courtney Helms and her
fiance, Paul Franklin, filed reports with League City police this week,
saying they lost $3,000, a claim bolstered by Boston resident Jared
Zicher and David Smith of Dallas.

According to League City
police and Helms, she wired $3,000 to National Home Cleaners of
Deerfield Beach, Fla., after finding the company’s business opportunity
advertised on Web sites.

The business advertised cleaning
foreclosed homes in Austin, and asked for $3,000 in advance to cover
materials and computers, Helms said.
