Lottery Scam
Lottery scam is a popular variant of the 419 Scams. This is basically a fake lottery claiming that they have selected you (out of nowhere) from a huge lists of email addresses or names. You may be asked to pay a small sum of admin fees and provide your personal information, before you can claim the prize. This is targeted at greedy individuals who often feel that it is ok to depart with a small sum of "admin fees" of say "US$1,000 to US$5,000" in exchange for hundreds of thousands in prize award. The fact is that there is No real prize award waiting for you, after you pay the admin fees. Note that "admin fees" may be disguised in various forms, e.g. additional fees due to errors, transfer fees, legal fees, etc. The scammers just need to change these terms.

Whether its phone, email, or a knock on the door, its a scam. HOWEVER, if you bought the MegaMillions and win the first prize, its REAL. No one will call you up because no one knows who has the winning ticket, and its up to YOU to bring the ticket to collect the money.
Don't believe in any other lottery that you have never joined. And never believe in "international" lotteries.

Question/Comment: My brother recieved a phone call about winning a
lottery. They called themselves the "Global International Lottery
Sweepstakes". He was asked for $2,500 insurance plus $300 fee to deliver a
check for $2million and $500K cash. He declined to pay and they said to
come pick up your check at 3675 S. Rainbow Ave Las Vegas, NV.
Do you know this as a scam?
