This is an overdue publish of a submission by one of our visitors
regarding puppy scams. Further checks were done on the internet search
and we find that these are real scams experienced by quite a number of
people.
Original Message from Submission:
“Please let your readers know about the latest scam coming from the
Nigerians (not all but these people make it bad for all). They are
advertising in local newspapers and wbsites (puppyfind, support
puppies) advertising purebred dogs at great prices ( remember if it
sounds too good it usually is)….”

DO not take them. I almost got scammed, the person I got claims to be in florida because her mom died, and the dogs remind them of her and they want to give them away. I had the money sent and everything, then the courier called (from a different country) and said i had to change the name for the western union transaction. I said I wanted to contact the florida courier, he said to send the money and then i will get the info. so I called western union asap and had the money sent back to me. thank god! the girl claims she is at work and cannot be contacted, and seems legit that she cares about the puppy but types in bad english. cant believe I almost fell for it!
Hi Rose, we recommend not to have any dealings with any individual in Africa at the moment – which we apply the rule “guilty unless proven innocent”. There are simply too many scams from there, and our listings are just a small percentage of what we received. You may like to mail gumtree referring to that advertisement and the link to this post. This will help to prevent scams happening to others. btw, I could not find that Ad, or I would email gumtree myself. Thanks for your comment
Please be aware that at present I am beeing offered 2 small puppies from west africa.If these links are related I dont know,but it started from an advertisment on gumtree I replied to.The name is different and he claims to be a missionary jehova witness.Am I beeing had here? the dogs are so cute but it does not check out.Looks like gumtree needs to be made aware of this.
